SP 3100 ALCo RSD15

Southern Pacific (SP) "alligator" 3100 "even" was on the hump at Eugene, Oregon, on Friday, Jun 21, 1974. The gator, the hump yard and the SP are all gone now.
SP 3100 was an ALCo RSD15, DL600B, SP Class AS624-1. Reportedly it was built in 1959, construction number 83483, as SP 4816 class DF-502. It was leased in 1960 to T&NO as 250. These were the last units added to the T&NO roster before the 1961 merger. It became SP 5160 in the 1965 renumbering as class AF624-1. In 1972 it was reclassified to switcher Class AS624-1 and renumbered SP 3100. It was retired and sold in 1978.
According to OPRRMS years ago on Altamont Press, The black vertically mounted disk shaped object on the top of the cab is a, "Receiver for the in-cab hump signals. Used on hump engines at Eugene, LA and Houston until replaced by more a modern radio system. After the RSD15s were retired, they were installed on the three C628s that replaced them, but I don't recall them being on the MP15ACs."

SP Gator 3102

Southern Pacific (SP) "alligator" 3102 was near the SP hump yard in Eugene, OR, in or around January 1977.
SP 3102 was an ALCo RSD15 DL600B, SP Class AS624-1. Reportedly, SP 3102 was built in 1959, construction number 83485, as SP 4818 class DF-502. It was leased in 1960 to T&NO as 251. It became SP 5162 in the 1965 renumbering as class AF624-1. In 1972 it was reclassified to switcher Class AS624-1 and renumbered SP 3102 and retired and sold in 1978.
The Gator, the hump yard and the SP are all gone now.

Model of UP 7098

I saw this superb HO model of Union Pacific (UP) 7098 at the San Francisco Bay Area’s Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet (BAPM) in Richmond, CA on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
According to my notes, this model was built by Scott Bates.
The real UP 7098 is a GE AC44CW. Reportedly it was built in 1997, serial number 50516.

The Rapido H-16-44s are coming out. I just saw this model of Virginian Railway (VGN) 39 at the The San Francisco Bay Area’s Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet (BAPM) in Richmond, CA on Saturday, June 21, 2025. I like F-Ms.
The real VGN 39 was a Fairbanks-Morse H-16-44. Reportedly it was built in 1955, builder's number 16L992. It became NW 139.

Southern Pacific (SP) "alligator" 3100, was on a cut of cars at the hump yard in Eugene, Oregon, on Friday, June 21, 1974.

SP 5161 was an ALCo RSD15, DL600B, SP Class AS624-1. Reportedly, it was built in 1959, construction number 83484, as SP 4817 class DF-502. It was leased in 1960 to T&NO as 251. It became SP 5161 in the 1965 renumbering as class AF624-1. In 1972 it was reclassified to switcher Class AS624-1 and then renumbered SP 3101. Retired and sold May 1978.

DL 3642 C636 making smoke

Delaware-Lakawana Railroad (DL) 3642 was in the set 3007, 3000, 3642 switching Ardent Mills, Mt. Pocono Mill, in Pocono Summit, PA, on Monday, July 8, 2019.
DL 3642 is an ALCo C636. Reportedly: it was built in 1968, builders number 3499-13, as PC 6342. It became CR 6792. Later it was sold to Delta Bulk Terminal (DBT) in Stockton, CA, becoming DBT 1001 before going to DL.

My HO Scale model of Western Pacific 3511 was at Weed at the California Central Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) in the historic Agnew depot in Santa Clara, CA, on Saturday, June 7, 2025. This is a pretty basic Atlas model.
The real WP 3511 was an EMD GP40, WP Class RS-68. Reportedly: it was built in 1967, builder's number 33056. It became UP 660. It was rebuilt and sold to KCS 4774, becoming KCS 2819.

Cotton Belt GP30 5007 in Tracy, CA

Cotton Belt (SSW) GP30 5007 was in the Tracy Power Pool with SP 3383, in Tracy, CA, on an unrecorded date in January 1974. SSW 5007 is an EMD GP30, SP Class EF423C-1. Reportedly: it was built in 1963, builders number 28179, as SSW 757, SSW Class Z-22. In 1965 it was renumbered to SSW 5007 EMD GP30, SP Class EF423C-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1986. Sold 1987 to Chrome Crankshaft. In 1987 leased to Kerr-McGee Chemicals Trona, CA. In 1988 MK rebuilt unit as BN GP39M 2803, becoming BNSF 2803.
