Westbound ATSF Approaching Woodford

Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (ATSF) 7449 led a westbound east of Woodford, CA in the Tehachapi Mountains near milepost 350, on Sunday, May 14, 1989.
ATSF 7449 was a GE B40-8. Reportedly it was built in 1989 as ATSF 7449 B40-8 serial number 45950, the last engine of the 7410 class. In 1995 it was wrecked at Tejon, NM and was repaired. It was renumbered BNSF 8639 in 2000 and subsequently became BNSF 597.

At 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, a northbound 2+2 UP stack train was at Woodford,  west of Tehachapi, CA. Power on this train was UP 7989, 7821 + 7181, 8138.
UP 7821 is a GE ES44AC. Reportedly: it is called an AC45CCTE by Union Pacific. It was built in 2008, serial number 58967.

BNSF at Bealville

On the afternoon of Thursday, August 6, 2026, a southbound 4+2 BNSF manifest was at Bealville, west of Tehachapi, CA. Power on this train was BNSF 5676, 5206, 7597, 5269 + 4110, 7830.
BNSF 5676 is a GE AC44CW. Reportedly: it was built in 2004, builders number 63246.

BNSF 7215 is a GE ES44DC. Reportedly, it was built 2009, serial number 59759.

In August 2026 my great friend Ken Compton and I took a trip to the Tehachapi Mountains between Bakersfield and Mojave, California.
On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, a northbound massive 5+2+0 BNSF grain + manifest was winding its way from Allard toward Tunnel 2. The power was BNSF 6058, 7632, 6257, 4339, 4110 +
7524, 5086.
BNSF 6058 is a GE ES44AC. Reportedly: it was built in 2006, serial number 57033.

In August 2026 my great friend Ken Compton and took a trip to the Tehachapi Mountains between Bakersfield and Mojave, California.
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, a southbound Union Pacific (UP) 3+1+0 intermodal train at Monolith had UP 5610, 7816, 7763 + 8709. This was the last train we shot on this trip.
UP 5610 is a GE AC44CW, UP designation AC44CWCTE. Reportedly it was built in 2004, serial number 55203.

On a hot Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., a former SP unit led a southbound 3+0 Union Pacific (UP) train that was about to enter Tunnel 2, south of Caliente, CA. The power was UP 6409, 9077, 8411.
UP 6409 is a GE/Wabtec C44ACM. Reportedly: it was built in 1995 as an AC44CW, SP 363, SP Class GF644L-2, serial number 48779.

CPKC On Tehachapi

On Friday, August 7, 2026, at 1:15 p.m., at Caliente, CA, a northbound 3+2+0 BNSF grain train had CPKC's CP 8931, KCS 4604, BNSF 7624, and swing DPUs CPKC CP 7037, BNSF 6389 for power.

CPKC CP 8939 is a GE ES44AC. Reportedly it was built in 2011, Serial Number 60693.

CPKC CP 7037 is a Progress Rail SD70ACu. Reportedly: it was rebuilt from an EMD SD9043MAC, originally built as CP 9150 in 1999, serial number 976842-51.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, BNSF Railway (BNSF) 7672 is leading a westbound freight through the Niles Crossovers at the California Central Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) in the historic Agnew depot in Santa Clara, CA. My BNSF 7672 is an HO Athearn Genesis model.
The real BNSF 7672 is a GE ES44DC. Reportedly: it was built in 2005, serial number 55731.

Amtrak Number 14 At Bealville

On Sunday, October 26, 2008, Amtrak (AMTK) 112 was on the point of a rerouted Amtrak train 14 at Bealville, CA. On the rear of the train were two Cal Zephyr private varnish cars. 

I don't know that much about private varnish, but I think the rear car is the 1948 Vista-Dome-Sleeper-Lounge Observation Silver Solarium and the car in front of it is the Vista-Dome Silver Lariat.

AMTK 112 is a GE P42DC. Reportedly: it was built in 1997, serial number 49964.
