SP 3600 in Roseville

Southern Pacific (SP) GP9 3600 was heading west around the wye on the east side of Roseville, CA on a warm Sunday, June 28, 1973. This was two months after the explosions that caused so much damage to the Antelope end of that yard.
SP 3600 was an EMD GP9, SP Class EF418-7. Reportedly: it was built in 1957 by EMD, builders number 22941, as SP 5759, SP Class DF-607.
In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassed to SP 3600 as shown.
This locomotive was upgraded and reclassed in 1975 emerging as SP 3803 EMD GP9R, SP Class EF418E-3.
The disposition of this locomotive is: Retired in 1991, sold in 1992, it became Yolo Shortline 131.

SP 3600 in Suisun

Southern Pacific (SP) GP9 3600 (even) was in Suisun, CA on Sunday, July 14, 1974. OPRRMS said: "The unit is sitting on one of the tracks at the old engine house (note the old sand house in the left background) that was located between the mainlines and the east leg of the wye, about a half-mile west of the depot. The unit is mostly likely the Suisun Local's power, during the time SP stationed a Road Switcher there. Your dad probably worked it when he was on the Extra Board."
SP 3600 was an EMD GP9, SP Class EF418-7. Reportedly: it was built in 1957 by EMD, builders number 22941, as SP 5759, SP Class DF-607.
In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassed to SP 3600 as shown.
This locomotive was upgraded and reclassed in 1975 emerging as SP 3803 EMD GP9R, SP Class EF418E-3.
The disposition of this locomotive is: Retired in 1991, sold in 1992, it became Yolo Shortline 131.

SP 4001 at Bayshore

On Thursday, July 11, 1974, Southern Pacific (SP) 4001 sat between assignments at the Bayshore Roundhouse, in Brisbane, near San Francisco, CA.
SP 4001 was an ALCo RS32/DL-721, SP Class AF420-1. Reportedly: it was built in 1962 as SP 7301, SP Class DF-618, builders number 84026. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 4001, SP Class AF420-1. This locomotive was reclassified to SP Class AS420-1 in 1975. It was retired in 1977 and sold the next year.

SP F-M on Train 132

Southern Pacific (SP) Fairbanks-Morse H-24-66 Train Master 3020 led train 132 past 4th St. Tower in San Francisco date not recorded, circa 1974.
SP 3020 was a Fairbanks-Morse H-24-66, SP Class FP624-1. Reportedly: it was built as Fairbanks-Morse Train Master demonstrator TM-3 in 1953, construction number 24-L-732. It was purchased by SP in 1953 and became SP 4800, class DF-500. In the 1965 renumbering it became SP 3020. It was retired in 1974, sold to Chrome Crankshaft and scrapped.

On Thursday, June 28, 1984, British Columbia Railway, aka BC Rail, (reporting mark BCOL) BC-31 was leading the Budd powered Cariboo Prospector northbound at Squamish, BC, Canada. Train engineer John (Johnny "The Jet") Alexander was in the open baggage door looking back at the boarding process.
BC-31 was a Budd RDC-3. Reportedly: it was built in 1956, builder's number 6302, as GN 2350, it became BN 2350, then AMTK 43. BCOL acquired it in 1976. In 2003 it was sold, it became ORRX 31, then WURR 31, then INPR 31.

Stll lettered for the Reading (RDG), on Thursday, June 28, 1984, British Columbia Railway (BCOL) BC-21 was at Squamish, BC, Canada.
BC-21 was a Budd RDC-1. Reporedly: it was built in 1972, builder's number 7004, as RDG 9156, then it became SEPTA 9156. BCOL acquired it in 1983. It was damaged by fire in 2002 and stored for sale.
