SD&AE 102 at Jacumba, CA. Evan Werkema said, "According to information compiled by Scott Inman, this would be the Railroad Boosters' "Carriso Gorge" excursion of October 15, 1939."
SD&AE 102, is an ALCo, SP Class C-31 2-8-0. Reportedly built in 1914 Schenectady Locomotive Works (ALCO), builder's number 54973. Acquired from SP in 1919, scrapped in 1953.
Photographer most likely Bill Darrough, from the Darrough Brothers (Bill and Jack) Collection. Since negatives were extensively traded it's possible Bill was not the photographer. Photos from this collection have been shared with permission from Jack Darrough, obtained before he died.
