On Friday, March 14, 1975 Southern Pacific (SP) SD40 8428 was leading SD45 9154, in Roseville, CA.
SP 8428 was an EMD SD40. It reportedly was built in 1966, construction number 31509, SP class EF630-1. It was rebuilt in 1981 into 7344, SP Class EF630R-2. It was sold in 1999 to Boise Locomotive Company and rebuilt into an SD40M-2. Other owners and numbers said associated with this locomotive include: GCFX 3109, CITX 3109, CEFX 3109.
