Big Boy at Pulga

Click Photo To Enlarge

Union Pacific Big Boy 4014, in the Feather River Canyon with its Westward Bound Tour train, navigates the over and under bridges at Pulga, CA at 1:10 p.m. on a very hot Thursday, July 11, 2024.

I was anticipating top light so I picked a spot where top light works and just waited several hours in the heat for the train to come to us. We brought umbrellas to shade us from the sun.

UP 4014 is an ALCo 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy", UP Class 4884-1. Reportedly: it was built in 1941 by ALCo, builders number 69585.
